WHY WE WORSHIP
"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment..."

As human beings, the question is not whether we worship, but rather what, or for the Christian, who we worship. We are creatures of worship and our worship represents what we love most. Yet, even for those who have chosen Christ, our worship is fallen. We need a Savior and we have one in the person of Jesus Christ. Worship, for the Christian, is as much an outpouring of the heart as it is the redemptive work of God Himself. Worship is more than just singing a few songs together, it is a way of life. Corporate worship is the opportunity to sing and bring praise and honor to our Great Covenant Lord. Corporate worship is the opportunity to publicly proclaim the greatness of God with those whom He has chosen to be His children, as well as those who are seeking Him. Corporate worship is the gathered praise of God's people for their edification as they prepare to scatter into their weekly lives.

So, why do we worship? We worship because God commands it. We worship because we love God. We worship because we were designed to. We worship because it is the outward expression of our inward condition. We worship because some 2000 years ago Jesus Christ paid the penalty for our sin so that through faith in Him (given to us by God) we might have life eternal. We worship Him, because as children of God that's what we were made to do.
