BECOMING A FOLLOWER OF CHRIST

A decision to follow Christ is a decision that affects you personally for time and eternity!

The Bible says,

1.                  Every single person has broken the laws of God.  The Bible calls this “sin”.  We must be forgiven of this sin or God cannot have fellowship with us.  (Romans 3:23; Habakkuk 1:13.)

 2.                  Jesus Christ, God’s own sinless Son, died to pay the penalty for these sins.  God offers to forgive us of our sin based on His death on our behalf.  We must abandon all attempts to try and make ourselves “right” with God by our own effort, and trust in Christ alone. (Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9)

3.                  Those who follow Jesus in simple faith, and accept His death on their behalf, become members of God’s family.  We receive forgiveness and eternal life with Him. (I John 1:9; John 3:16) 

4.                  When we believe in Jesus in the above way, God gives us His own Holy Spirit to live inside us, empowering us to live a life that will be honoring to God. (Ephesians 1:13; I John 2:3-5)
